Frequently asked questions

Can I work if I’m on furlough?

As long as your contract of employment allows it, you can take on another job. For more information Gov.uk has advice on [working when on furlough].

Am I allowed to work on a farm during the lockdown?

These roles have keyworker status, so you can travel to and from work. If you have children they may still be able to attend school.

Can I travel to the farm or do I need to live on-site?

This depends on the role and farm. Some offer accommodation on-site for a basic fee of no more than £52.85/week. If you have a camper van or mobile home, the farm may let you live in that. To find out, it’s best to speak directly to them.

If I live on-site will I have to share accommodation?

Yes you may have to. This will be entirely dependent on the farm. If you live with a group in a caravan or cabin, you’ll be treated as a household in terms of social distancing. So you’ll be able to live and work together.

What are the working hours? Is there any flexibility?

This will vary dependent on the farm and role. You’ll find more information in the individual job details posted or by talking to the farm.
